184 Mabel

Mabel is a sassy senior, black female, who was found with her buddy, Alice, by a good Samaritan in the mountains just before Christmas. She is 60 pounds and is quite fit for her age with not a single fatty tumor on her lean figure. The temperatures were below freezing and the dogs were soaked to the bone. He took them in, searched for their owners with no luck, but the landlord found the dogs and kicked them back out in the cold. When we again found the dogs out in the rain and cold, they were covered in ticks. And sadly, both girls tested positive for heartworms so they are taking antibiotics to prepare for the heartworm injections and then they have to get plenty of rest. Mabel is the protector of Alice, but Alice wants to get a good scratch behind the ears so she is slowly searching out attention from her foster parents. Update!!! Mabel is a kick she has so much personality and her foster mom is quickly becoming attached! If you were thinking about adopting an active senior this is the girl to look at!
