450 Riley – NEW!

Riley is a 50 pound 9 year old dark yellow boy (after our vet exam we have changed his age estimation). He was turned in to a high kill shelter by his ‘owners’ with no reason for surrendering him. It is obvious they didn’t go out of their way to feed him because you can still count every rib even through his thick coat! He LOVES his food and he eats every meal as if it’s the first he’s seen in weeks. Poor baby. As an owner surrender, the shelter has the option to immediately put to sleep but another rescue reached out to us to help save him. Riley is finally over his cold and has had a more thorough exam. He is now house trained, but just like a toddler, he needs to be reminded until it becomes second nature. His love for food remains the same and in fact, he is obsessed with his food and should always be fed separately. Riley doesn’t want to take the chance he’ll go hungry again, and he is food aggressive (we actually see this in quite a few rescue labs, its not uncommon). When there isn’t food, he is great with other dogs and tends to be the follower in the pack. He sleeps quietly in a crate, but he also loves a cushy dog bed too. Riley is looking for a retirement home where he can be spoiled and never miss a meal again!
